Amid global COVID-19 pandemic, Thailand has faced a recent outbreak, so called third wave attack with devastating impacts on people’s lives. As of April 2021, the number of infected cases and disease severity have continued to rise and become an unprecedented crisis for the country's public health system.

Coronary artery disease (CAD) can be one of the most challenging conditions to treat. Once a plaque builds up on the arterial wall, it can lead to blockage, which can cause a heart attack.

The COVID-19 pandemic is the defining global health crisis and it has become the greatest challenge we have recently encountered. Based on currently available information obtained from clinical studies, conclusive evidence indicating that patients with diabetes or cardiovascular disease are more susceptible to the infections has not been derived yet.

Even if one takes good care of their physical health, it doesn't guarantee that they will be free from illness or disease forever. For example, emergency heart conditions can occur suddenly. One might be enjoying a New Year's party and suddenly experience symptoms of a heart disease, even if they have never detected any abnormalities before. However, if there is a risk, one may still encounter such conditions.

Regarding current statistics, cardiac arrest becomes a public health issue with widespread incidence and severe impact on human health and well-being worldwide. Particularly in Thailand, cardiac arrest has killed approximately 50,000 people each year.

Heart disease does not only occur in adults and the elderly, newborn babies and kids can also develop cardiac disease.

The heart has four valves: the tricuspid, pulmonary, mitral and aortic valves. To keep blood flowing in the correct direction, these valves have tissue flaps (leaflets or cusps) that open and close during each heartbeat. In heart valve disease, one or more of the valves in the heart does not function properly.

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer related deaths in Thailand. Lung cancer typically does not cause signs and symptoms in its earliest stages. Signs and symptoms of lung cancer typically occur only when the disease is advanced.

Coronary Artery Calcium Scan (CAC) is an imaging test used to detect the atherosclerotic plaque that forms on the artery walls of the heart. This plaque is made up of calcium, fats, cholesterol and other substances. Over time, plaque buildup hardens and narrows the arteries, resulting in limited blood flow to the heart and other parts of the body. This plaque can burst, triggering a blood clot and causing life-threatening events such as heart attack.

Aortic aneurysm surgery has 2 types: open surgery, and Endovascular Aortic Aneurysm Repair (EVAR), which involves the insertion of a stent graft via a catheter. The long-term outcomes of EVAR are equivalent to those of open surgery. Importantly, minimally invasive surgery allows patients to recover more quickly and has a lower mortality rate.
