According to Oil & Gas UK Medical Aspects of Fitness for Work Offshore: Guidance for Examining Physicians, Issue 8 (November 2025), this edition provides more detailed information on health issues, including the processes for determining limitations and restrictions. Additional tests are also required for certain workers, depending on their specific job roles or health conditions.
To avoid delays in issuing your OEUK certificate, or in the decision-making process if the OEUK doctor needs to contact your GP or treating physician, please bring or provide any relevant medical information directly to the OEUK doctor. Doing so may prevent the need for the doctor to request reports or additional information from your previous OEUK medical examiner, GP, or treating physician.
Items to bring and important notes for all examinees:
- For OEUK medicals only: Fasting is not required. You may take your prescribed medications as usual.
- Bring a copy of your most recent “Fit to Train” certificate and be aware of the date of your next FOET.
- If you have medical documentation from your previous OEUK medical(s) and are willing to share it with the examining doctor, please bring a copy with you.
- If you wear glasses or contact lenses, bring your glasses and/or contact lens case. If you fail to bring them, the OEUK standard vision test cannot be completed.
For those who have underlying medical conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, a history of heart attack, or other chronic illnesses, please prepare information from your GP or treating doctor, including:
- A list of relevant test results from the past 1–2 years.
- Your GP’s treatment targets or goals for your condition.
- A list of your prescribed medications (including the name and dosage), and note any changes made in the past 1–2 years.
For those with a BMI of 40 or a body weight of 124 kg or more:
- In accordance with the Industry Safe Weight Limit for Offshore Installations Policy, individuals with a BMI of 40 or a body weight of 124 kg or more are strongly advised to undertake weight reduction.
- Please bring a record of your weight measurements from the past 1–2 years, as well as copies of any available HbA1c, total cholesterol, and HDL blood test results.
- Bring a pair of trainers/sneakers for the functional mobility assessment, which is required to evaluate your ability to perform emergency procedures on offshore platforms.
For those receiving weight-reduction treatment, you must provide a weight-loss medication letter:
- Please also provide proof of prescription from your GP, endocrinologist, or treating doctor, including the medication name, dosage, and any reported side effects.
- A minimum of 3 days must have passed since the administration of your second injection before undergoing the medical examination.
For those who require an OEUK certificate, fit to train certificate, and/or belong to specific employment groups (e.g. members of the Emergency Response Team (ERT), crane operators, catering crew, rope access workers, wind turbine workers, or personnel working on Normally Unmanned Installations):
- Bring trainers/sneakers for the aerobic capacity assessment, which applies to ERT members and wind turbine workers.
- Please inform the staff in advance, as additional tests may be required depending on the type of medical examination.
- Rope access workers must provide updated rope access training records or certification, which must be valid and in date (IRATA or equivalent).
Important Notes:
- The package price does not include any additional investigations (if required) for the fitness-to-work evaluation.
- According to Oil & Gas UK — Medical Aspects of Fitness for Work Offshore: Guidance for Examining Physicians, Issue 8 (November 2025), workers will receive a medical certificate of fitness valid for two years. However, some workers may be issued certificates of a shorter duration if they have medical conditions requiring earlier review.
- The hospital reserves the right to make changes without prior notice.
