1–2 Months
At this age, babies smile responsively, coo, and show excitement when held. They are drawn to colorful, slowly moving objects. Ideal toys are ones that can be attached to a crib or bassinet, such as brightly colored mobiles, which help stimulate visual development.
3–4 Months
Babies begin turning toward sounds, babbling, and responding to interaction. They are also starting to move more independently. Toy choices at this stage should focus on stimulating the senses — particularly hearing — such as rattles or squeezable toys that make sounds when pressed.

5–6 Months
Babies now recognize their parents’ faces, express joy and sadness, and track sounds. This is an age of active touching — grabbing, stroking, squeezing, and throwing. They also love rolling and crawling movements. Suitable toys include soft balls, textured building blocks, bath toys, fabric books, teething rings, and brightly colored rattles or percussion toys that encourage crawling toward them. Note that babies this age tend to put everything in their mouths, so safety is essential.

7–9 Months
Hand skills develop significantly at this stage. Babies learn to grasp and release objects intentionally. Parents should offer toys with varied shapes, sizes, weights, and textures — such as geometric shape toys, simple stacking blocks, touch-and-feel books, and shakers that produce sound.

9–12 Months
Crawling improves considerably, and by 12 months most children begin pulling themselves up to stand or taking first steps. They are actively exploring objects around them, building early problem-solving skills. Good toy choices include pull-along toys to encourage walking, and wooden blocks to develop planning and problem-solving thinking.

1–3 Years
This stage calls for toys that build muscle strength, balance, and imagination. It is also a key period for language development. Ideal toys include wooden blocks, playdough, role-play sets, toy kitchen sets, dolls, and dress-up clothes — all of which nurture creativity and imaginative thinking. Picture books and storybooks are also highly appropriate for this age.

4–6 Years
Children at this age become noticeably more physically agile, socially adaptable, and imaginative. They enjoy independent play, creative freedom, and challenges. Suitable toys are those that encourage group play and stimulate imagination — such as outdoor play equipment, bicycles, role-play toys, board games, and team sports or group games.
