Cardiac catheterization and coronary angiography

It is an important examination method for treating coronary artery disease, typically used when information obtained from external diagnostic tools is insufficient. The doctor inserts a cardiac catheterization device, which is a thin, tiny tube, into the blood vessels of the arm or leg, and threads it through the vessels to the heart. Then, the doctor injects a radiopaque solution or “dye” through the catheter into the coronary arteries to check for any narrowing of the arteries. The obtained data will indicate the location and number of narrowed arteries, as well as show the condition of the heart muscle function, to diagnose the cause and specific symptoms of heart disease.
