Carotid Duplex Ultrasonography is an examination of the carotid arteries on both sides of the neck to look at the major Carotid (frontal arteries) and Vertebral (rear arteries) using high-frequency sound waves to create and display images of the examination results
Carotid Doppler Ultrasound Examination
The Carotid Doppler Ultrasound examination checks the walls of the arteries that supply blood to the brain, measures the thickness of the artery walls CCA (Intima Media Thickness), detects Calcified Plaque in the areas of the arteries at the neck to observe the condition of Carotid artery narrowing, and measures the speed of blood circulation in the arteries as a graph. It can precisely indicate the speed and direction of blood flow and compares data from both the left and right Carotid and Vertebral Arteries. If there is thickening of the neck artery walls or calcified plaque causing neck artery narrowing, it can lead to insufficient blood supply to the brain, potentially causing paralysis.
