Emergency responders will ask for key information, so stay calm and provide the following:
1) Describe the injured person’s symptoms.
2) Give the exact location of the incident and clear directions so responders can reach the scene quickly.
3) Provide the patient’s name, gender, and age for identification.
4) State the patient’s level of consciousness—whether they are fully alert, responsive to verbal prompts, or unconscious.
5) Report any safety concerns at the scene, such as nearby fires, unstable building structures, or chemical leaks.
6) Give your name and a phone number where you can be contacted.

If you have basic first aid knowledge, you can provide initial assistance to the injured. For example, if the person is unconscious and not breathing, perform CPR if you are trained.
