Every Second Counts… Trust Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin

When Life Hangs by a Thread, Every Second Counts… No one knows when an accident will happen—whether on the road, at home, or in an unexpected situation. What matters most are staying calm and making quick decisions. The right action in those first critical moments could mean saving the life of someone you love.

Dr. Monton Pongpanit, our specialist in emergency medicine and the Director of Trauma and Emergency Center at Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin, advises that in case of an emergency or accident, call 1669, Thailand’s Emergency Medical Services hotline, which connects you to rescue teams and ambulances. Alternatively, you can call 032-616-888, the Emergency Department at Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin.

Emergency responders will ask for key information, so stay calm and provide the following:
1) Describe the injured person’s symptoms.
2) Give the exact location of the incident and clear directions so responders can reach the scene quickly.
3) Provide the patient’s name, gender, and age for identification.
4) State the patient’s level of consciousness—whether they are fully alert, responsive to verbal prompts, or unconscious.
5) Report any safety concerns at the scene, such as nearby fires, unstable building structures, or chemical leaks.
6) Give your name and a phone number where you can be contacted.
7) The emergency center will guide you through appropriate first aid based on the patient’s condition.

If you have basic first aid knowledge, you can provide initial assistance to the injured. For example, if the person is unconscious and not breathing, perform CPR if you are trained. In the case of a bleeding wound, rinse it with clean water, cover it with a clean cloth, and apply firm pressure. Avoid moving anyone who may have a neck or spinal injury, and get them to the hospital as quickly as possible.

The priority is safe transportation and getting the patient to the doctor quickly. Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin’s ambulances meet Thailand’s Emergency Medical Services standards and are classified as Advanced Life Support (ALS) Ambulances. We are equipped to care for patients in complex and critical emergencies, such as those requiring intubation, CPR, or life-saving medication. Each ambulance is staffed with an emergency medicine specialist, an emergency nurse, and a paramedic, ensuring the patient’s safety throughout the journey.

Some Treatments Can’t Wait: An Inter-Facility Transfer (IFT) moves patients from one hospital to another to ensure they receive the most appropriate care. This includes transferring critically ill patients from community or district hospitals without an ICU, moving patients who need urgent surgery available only at larger hospitals, providing access to specialized medical teams for conditions such as heart disease, stroke, or severe injuries, facilitating transfers for complex surgical procedures, and ensuring seriously ill patients receive continued care at a hospital closer to home.

Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin’s Mobile ICU is designed according to the safety standards of the Ministry of Public Health. All equipment—including the patient bed, ventilator, EKG monitor, automatic blood pressure monitor, oxygen supply, IV infusion pump, and suction device—is securely fastened to withstand forces of up to 10g during transport. The ambulance is fully equipped with sufficient oxygen and electrical supply throughout the journey. A team of specialist doctors and nurses monitors the patient from the sending hospital to the receiving hospital, ensuring safe and continuous care. Every transfer is carefully coordinated between hospitals to guarantee uninterrupted treatment and the highest level of patient safety.

“When every second counts… you can trust Bangkok Hospital Hua Hin to stand by you and your family. With international standards of care and a dedicated team of doctors and staff committed to saving lives, your safety is our top priority,” Dr. Monton concluded.
