#How to Handle an Ankle Sprain
An ankle sprain is an unexpected accident, which can be caused by several reasons such as accidental events around you, exercising, or even wearing shoes that do not fit your foot size.
𝗥.𝗜.𝗖.𝗘 Principle for Initial First Aid for Ankle Sprains
𝗥 – 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝘁 Sit down to observe the symptoms from the ankle sprain to see if it’s severe.
𝗜 – 𝗜𝗰𝗲 Apply a cold compress to reduce swelling and bleeding by applying cold for about 15 minutes every 2 hours. It is not advisable to apply heat or massage the injured area in the early stages as it may increase swelling.
𝗖 – 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 Use a bandage on the swollen area and try not to move unnecessarily as it will increase pain in the injured area.
𝗘 – 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 Elevate the foot to reduce swelling and pain.
