Origin of the Civil Aeromedical Center
The origin of the Civil Aeromedical Center began when Bangkok Hospital conducted health examinations for pilots and aviation personnel from various companies and airlines. This was done by a team of expert doctors in aerospace medicine who were licensed and appointed by the Civil Aviation Authority, comprising 5 individuals. These doctors have also been appointed by health examination authorities for aerospace medicine from several countries, including the FAA standards of the United States, Canada License, and Australia License, among others, to conduct health examinations for pilots and aviation personnel from companies and airlines operating in Thailand. Alongside, there have been activities in patient air transport services. The Bangkok Aeromedical Center engages in education, research, and participation in aerospace medicine activities both domestically and internationally, becoming well-recognized and accepted by the professional community from both within and outside the country.
Considerations for the hospital’s qualifications to be appointed as a Civil Aeromedical Center by the Civil Aviation Authority, Ministry of Transport (Thailand) include:
1) Being an appropriate medical institution
2) Having a sufficient number of examining physicians and senior doctors in aerospace medicine
3) Having complete and sufficient equipment for aerospace medicine examinations
4) Offering teaching or training in aerospace medicine
5) Conducting studies, research, and development in aerospace medicine
6) Not being a person who is suspended or revoked from license not exceeding 2 years
Until today, Bangkok Hospital has been appointed as the first private hospital to become a Civil Aeromedical Center, to facilitate expanded health examination services to aviation personnel conveniently, quickly, and with standards.
