Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar Disorder is a condition where the patient has a pronounced mood disorder, characterized by abnormally profound sadness, crying, fatigue, suicidal ideation or abnormally elevated mood, excitement, talkativeness. The patient may present symptoms from just one aspect, such as being overly joyous, or from both aspects.

Symptoms of Bipolar Disorder

1. Manic Episode

• Feeling of exaggerated self-worth, sometimes believing oneself to be superior.

• Insomnia or restlessness.

• Very talkative, incessant speaking.

• Scattered thoughts, planning grand schemes.

• Busy, engaging in many activities, might engage in abnormal spending.

• Deterioration of relationships with others.

2. Depressive Episode

• Depression.

• Significant loss of interest and pleasure.

• Appetite loss, significant weight loss within a month.

• Insomnia or excessive sleeping.

• Fatigue, lack of energy.

• Feelings of guilt or worthlessness, prone to crying.

• Decreased concentration, indecisiveness.

• Thoughts of death or suicide.

• Consulting a psychiatrist for therapeutic process including medication and psychotherapy as diagnosed by the doctor, such as various types of psychotherapy.

• Treatment can lead to full recovery, allowing for a normal life in society and ability to work.
