The inpatient care unit for the elderly is a medical service designed specifically for older adults, who are often at higher risk of experiencing adverse events when hospitalized for various acute illnesses. The Mobile Acute Care for the Elderly (MACE) is a new model of care provided by a multidisciplinary team, offering targeted care to elderly patients in order to improve their treatment outcomes.
The MACE unit consists of geriatricians, care coordinators, pharmacists, and nutritionists, who provide modern services to elderly patients requiring hospitalization for acute illnesses. Our objective is to help prevent harm that may arise from being hospitalized, which often results from prolonged bed rest, leading to conditions that weaken muscles, ultimately rendering patients unable to care for themselves and reliant on others, thus hindering their recovery of strength.
Our interdisciplinary team will help address common issues encountered by older adults with the aim of enabling patients to return to their normal lives.
