7 steps of exercise to prevent cancer

    1.    Start at the Heart “I don’t have enough time” or “I am to tired today” are common excuses when it comes to exercise. The key is to approach it with the mentality that the exercise itself will rejuvenate and keep you feeling fresh and active. Do not allow age to be an obstacle, exercise is suitable for people of all ages. Find inspiration and motivation by setting goals such as losing weight to fit into an old dress or getting toned for beach season.

    2.    Anytime, Anywhere Exercise is an activity not limited by time or place. When sitting in traffic, flex your stomach muscles, back and hips. Hold for 5 seconds and repeat, this will help strengthen these muscles. During a phone call instead of sitting still why not try walking around? Other examples of things you can do are: choosing to take the stairs rather than the elevator, gardening, cleaning, ironing, watering plants and general housework.

    3.    There’s No Need for Formality Exercise doesn’t require you to wear full sports gear each and every time. There are many ways to stay active that do not require equipment or props such as walking, running, aerobics or fitness at home. It is not necessary to join the gym as there are numerous exercise methods that won’t cost you a penny.

    4.    Invite a Friend to join in as this will make exercise more fun and boost motivation. It will also provide a platform for an exchange of technique, ideas, and useful tips. Taking the family outdoors can lead to healthy activities such as exploring the neighborhood or taking a nice stroll in the local park.

    5.    Learning through Doing If you are unsure where or how to start exercising walking can be a simple, yet effective activity. Begin walking once a day, this can then be transitioned into running. If lifting weights is your preference then you should start with lighter weights then gradually increase accordingly. Remember to take the appropriate amount of rest to allow your body to recuperate.

    6.    Keep it Fun Deciding which activity or location to exercise can be a great contributor to success and consistency. Try to incorporate fun elements whilst exercising and taking the time to focus your body and mind to reflect upon the activities and benefits of what you have achieved that day. It is important to avoid exercise that is repetitive and tedious, mixing it up will ensure that exercise stays relevant in your day-to-day life.

    7.    Daily Exercise You should aim to do some exercise every day to the extent that it becomes part of your daily routine, as natural as brushing your teeth, sleeping or eating. Exercise can be done throughout and anytime of the day, for example, walking up and down stairs, gardening, riding a bicycle, or simply carry things are all forms of exercise which can be easily incorporated into your daily routine.
