As generally understood from primary school education, where we have become familiar with the phrase “sleep is the best form of rest,” which is a correct understanding. However, sleep is not just about recharging the body or akin to “charging the battery” for use the next day, but sleep also has many other benefits. Because sleep is a special thing that nature has created for all living organisms. Many body systems work well or occur specifically during sleep, such as the long-term memory recording system of humans that occurs in the part of the brain called the Hippocampus, which transforms short-term memories into long-term memories. This system occurs importantly during the sleep phase.

Additionally, it has been found that many types of body hormone systems release a large amount of hormones specifically during night time, such as the Growth Hormone and Melatonin, which helps regulate the sleep-wake cycle and this type of hormone is only released at night. This correlates with what adults teach their children, that eating a lot and going to bed early will help grow faster and excel in studies. In reality, this is true from the natural mechanism of the nervous system that takes place while we are asleep.
