Bangkok Mental Health Rehabilitation and Recovery Center (BMRC)

Our approach

“Mental Health for All…”
At BMRC, mental health means more than just treating mental illness. We are dedicated to those who come seeking to improve lives which have been diminished by impairments of the mind and spirit. We welcome everyone whom we believe can be helped within our therapeutic community.
We aim to provide the best care within the psychiatric and psychotherapy disciplines, and to restore the best possible quality of life to our clients. We recognise the individuality of our clients. We treat the whole person, recognising the significant others in their lives, while respecting the cultural and spiritual dimensions.
"Recovery model"
The heart of our service is recovery. To us, it means staying in control of our life despite experiencing mental health difficulties. Putting recovery into action means focusing care on supporting recovery and building the resilience, not just on treating or managing symptoms. We believe that it is possible to regain meaningful lives, no matter what circumstances. For us recovery is a journey.

Our treatment

BMRC provides mental health services within the private ground in the heart of Bangkok.
Our skilled clinical team works in partnership with you to ensure your treatment is tailored to suit your particular needs. We emphasise safety, open communication, and therapeutic community.

As a client, you are encouraged to take an active part in your own care, and play an important role in running the community. You will help and support others in the challenges in daily living and working within a therapeutic community.
Inpatient service
Inpatient care involves staying at BMRC for the duration of your therapy. Our inpatient treatment method is evidence-based and highly personalised, combining different types of treatment such as individual and group psychotherapy, creative expressive therapies, occupational therapy, and physical therapy. The overall aim is to create optimum health for both your mind and body.
Our 21-day inpatient programme is designed to restore the best possible quality of life by emphasising the therapeutic community approach. Your days at our residential care involve a variety of activities including but not limited to meetings, daily chores, rehabilitation pursuits, sports, and other self-discovering and fun activities. Not only does our community approach provide safe and supportive environment, it also enables you to re-establish your individuality, sense of responsibility, and a level of ordinary everyday functioning. More importantly this process will help you re-adjust to life outside BMRC when you have completed your work here.

Our residential care unit

We have a seven bed residential care facility situated within the Bangkok hospital. The unit is fully staffed with nurses, psychiatrists, psychotherapists, psychologists, and occupational therapists. Each client has an individual bedroom with access to nursing care 24 hour a day, 7 days a week.
In addition, as we are located within the Bangkok hospital area, full medical treatment is also readily available, be it a range of other specialist doctors, dieticians, or physiotherapists, making BMRC one of a kind in Thailand.

The design of our unit is evidence-based, with your safety and comfort as our highest priority. The facilities include relaxing communal areas, therapy rooms, dining rooms, and kitchen areas.

Day-patient service

Day-patient care is for those living in the Bangkok community, and attend a therapeutic programme during the week. These are generally similar programmes offered in the inpatient service.

Outpatient service

Our specialist clinical team members offers a full range of outpatient mental health services including:

Psychiatric services

Our psychiatrists offer psychiatric assessment, consultation, and ongoing management of all adult, adolescent, and child mental health issues.

Psychological services

Our psychotherapists and psychologists offer psychotherapeutic assessment, ongoing psychotherapy, dramatherapy, and music therapy.
  • What is psychotherapy?
Dramatherapy is a form of psychological therapy in which all of the performance arts are utilised within the therapeutic relationship. It is about using the imagination to work creatively. The approach is non-confrontational and the aim of a session is to achieve personal change by exploring issues and feelings, and finding new meanings of life in a safe, contained, and playful environment.
  • What is music therapy?
Music therapy is the use of sounds and music within an evolving relationship between the client and the therapist to support and develop physical, mental, social, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. Similar to dramatherapy, the approach is non-confrontational and no prior experience with musical instrument is necessary.

Occupational therapy services

Occupational therapy aims to promote your health and wellbeing through everyday activities. An occupational therapist can identify problem areas you may have in everyday life, such as dressing or getting to the shops, and will help you work out practical solutions. By using different techniques, changing your environment and using new equipment, an occupational therapist can help you regain or improve your independence.

Bangkok Wellbeing Clinic

Our Bangkok Wellbeing Clinic offers healthy lifestyle and well being programmes for those who may benefit from improving their life skills. The programmes include aspects such as communication and assertiveness skills, and provide support for anxiety and stress management. Other practical activities aimed to improve all aspects of daily living are also the focus of our service. For instance, time management, better eating, better sleep, and a comprehensive smoke cessation programme. In addition, other specialist programmes for specific life circumstances are also on offer (e.g. living with cancer for both the patients and the caregivers.)
