The Federation of Thai Industries Udon Thani Chapter, in collaboration with Udon Thani Province, Udon Thani Municipality, Udon Thani Provincial Office of Culture, Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) Udon Thani Office, Udon Thani Provincial Office of Tourism and Sports, Udon Thani Rajabhat University, and public-private partner networks in Udon Thani Province, jointly organized UDON CITY FEST 2026 (Mak Khaeng Heawwwwww) during May 2-3, 2026, at Udon Thani City Museum, Mueang Udon Thani District, Udon Thani Province. The event was supported by the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB). The objective was to promote Udon Thani’s unique identity and cultural assets to a broader audience through creative, contemporary processes encompassing gastronomy, art, film, music, and traditional textiles. It also aimed to establish economic linkages by leveraging the MICE industry to welcome domestic and international tourists and attendees, serving as a key preparation for the Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026.
Mr. Nattapong Kumwongpin, Deputy Governor of Udon Thani Province, presided over the opening ceremony of UDON CITY FEST 2026 (Mak Khaeng Heawwwwww) today.
The organization of UDON CITY FEST 2026 (Mak Khaeng Heawwwwww) is a point of pride for the people of Udon Thani in presenting their unique cultural identity through contemporary creative processes in food, art, film, and traditional textiles. This event serves not only as a stage to demonstrate Udon Thani’s potential, but also features exhibitions on Learning City drive achievements, business negotiations, a NIGHT CARNIVAL parade, and spaces for sharing valuable experiences.
This event acts as a vital economic engine through the MICE industry to support domestic and international visitors, especially in preparing Udon Thani for the Udon Thani International Horticultural Expo 2026—an essential opportunity to promote local tourism and economic development on an international scale while encouraging public, private, and local enterprise participation to sustainably boost the province’s Soft Power.
Mr. Akaradech Paengsrisarn, Deputy Mayor of Udon Thani Municipality, reported on the event’s objectives. Udon Thani Municipality has implemented a prototype learning city project to reduce educational inequality, supported by the Equitable Education Fund (EEF).
Ms. Areerat Montreepreechachai, Director of the Northeastern Regional Office of the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), expressed support for the event. TCEB is a government agency tasked with promoting, supporting, and developing Thailand’s MICE industry.
Udon Thani holds outstanding potential in transforming cultural identity into a creative economy—be it food, art, film, or local fabrics—which can be further expanded into creative festivals generating broad economic impact through MICE mechanisms.
UDON CITY FEST 2026 is not just a standard event; it is a declaration that Udon Thani is ready as a creative city and as the MICE City of the Isan region throughout the 2-day event on May 2-3, 2026.
