7 Warning Signs of Cancer You Shouldn’t Ignore If you experience any of these symptoms, see your doctor immediately for a diagnosis.

    1. Unusual Weight Loss

If you lose more than 5 kilograms in a few months without diet or exercise, it could be a sign of cancer such as:

    • pancreatic cancer
    • lung cancer
    • stomach cancer
    • gastrointestinal cancer

Recommendation: If you experience unexplained weight loss, see your doctor immediately.

    2. Unexplained lump

A lump in the breast, groin, or neck that continues to grow or is painful to the touch could indicate:

    • breast cancer
    • lymphoma

Recommendation: Perform regular self-exams and see your doctor if you find a lump.

    3. Chronic Cough/Hoarseness/Difficulty Breathing

A chronic dry cough, a change in voice, hoarseness, or shortness of breath, without fever or a cold, could be a warning sign of:

    • lung cancer
    • larynx cancer

Recommendation: If symptoms last longer than two weeks, seek medical attention, especially if you smoke or live in a high-risk area.

    4. Unusual Bleeding

    • Black or Bloody Stool
    • Blood in the urine
    • Bloody vaginal discharge, even outside of your menstrual cycle

    May be associated with

    • Colon cancer
    • Cervical cancer
    • Bladder cancer

    5. Chronic wounds that won’t heal

    • Oral sores that aren’t caused by biting
    • Skin sores that heal slowly or recur
    • Sores that last longer than two weeks

    May be a sign of

    • Oral cancer
    • Skin cancer

    6. Mole/Skin Changes

    Growing moles

    • Bleeding, itching, or burning
    • Darkening or multi-colored moles
    • Irregular edges, asymmetrical shape

    May indicate melanoma.

Recommendation: Regular skin checks. If you have multiple moles or have fair skin, see a dermatologist for screening.

    7. Abnormal bowel movements

    • Frequent alternating constipation and diarrhea
    • Blood or fresh blood in your stool
    • Chronic abdominal cramps
    • If these symptoms persist for more than two weeks, they may be a sign of Colon Cancer

Recommendation: Those aged 50 and over or with a family history of colon cancer should undergo a colonoscopy screening.
