What Are NCDs?
Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) are a group of chronic illnesses that do not result from infections but are the long-term consequence of unhealthy lifestyle habits. These include excessive consumption of sugary, fatty, and salty foods, physical inactivity, smoking, alcohol consumption, and chronic stress. NCDs are among the leading causes of death in Thailand and around the world.
Common Examples of NCDs Include:
• Diabetes
• Hypertension (High Blood Pressure)
• Cardiovascular Diseases
• Cancer
• Abdominal Obesity (Central Obesity)
How to Prevent and Manage NCDs:
• Adopt healthier eating habits: avoid processed, sugary, fatty, and salty foods
• Exercise regularly—at least 30 minutes a day
• Undergo annual health check-ups to monitor risk factors
• Manage stress and ensure adequate rest
• Refrain from smoking and limit alcohol consumption
