Torn Shoulder Tendon Repair: “Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair” In this video, Geoffrey Doody, a British resident of Thailand for 14 years, shares his real-life experience of treating a shoulder injury sustained after a slip and fall while watering plants last October. This resulted in a complete rupture of the rotator cuff. The doctor explained that he used arthroscopic surgery, a less invasive procedure than major surgery. It uses a small camera to repair the torn tendon, creating a small incision of only 1 centimeter in 5-6 places. The surgery takes about 2-3 hours, and afterward, the arm is slinged to immobilize the shoulder joint. It usually takes 4-6 months to return to normal activities. Geoffrey recounted that just two weeks after surgery, he began exercising slowly and is feeling better. He is now able to lift weights, cycle, and swim normally. Besides the satisfactory treatment results, Geoffrey was very impressed with the hospital’s service, including the five-star hotel-like rooms, the English-speaking staff, and the excellent relationship he had with the doctors, who treated him like friends. Made him feel like he was in one of the best hospitals in the world and would recommend it to everyone
