ERCP is an advanced endoscopic examination used to treat pancreatic and biliary tract diseases. Laparoscopic cholecystectomy is a minimally invasive surgery conducted to remove gallstones. A combined procedure of ERCP and LC (one-step) is an effective solution to treat patients who have gallstones present with bile duct stones or with other complicated conditions e.g. acute pancreatitis, obstructive jaundice or acute cholangitis. This combined procedure enables the patient to undergo general anesthesia only once, resulting in a less risk of anesthetic-associated effects. Minimally invasive surgery substantially shortens the hospital stay, leading to a faster recovery. Moreover, biliary cholangitis significantly decreases if two procedures are concurrently performed.
