The symptoms of RSV viral infection may resemble those of a common cold, such as fever (usually not very high), cough, and sneeze. Some children may also experience tearing and thick eye discharge.
This RSV virus generally tends to infect the lower respiratory tract, causing obstruction in the lower airways, audible wheezing, along with irritating cough and dry sound at first. Then it progresses to a cough with phlegm in a barking style (Barking cough). Some cases experience coughing so much that they cannot sleep, rapid breathing with indrawn chest, children appear exhausted and cannot eat, often accompanied by dehydration.
