Award of Fracture Liaison Service “Excellent Care for Hip Fractures in Geriatrics”

Ensuring our excellent care of hip fractures in geriatrics, Bangkok Hospital and Bangkok International Hospital have received the award “Fracture Liaison Service” from the Department of Medical Services, Ministry of Public Health Thailand during Thailand FLS Forum held on 17 June 2022 at Holiday Inn Bangkok Silom. In this event, our hospitals were represented by Dr. Vajara Phiphobmongkol, Dr. Pichet Yiemsiri, Dr. Pannida Wattanapanom, Chutikan Suwalapha and Suwanna Marukee.
Elderly people are at greater risk of hip fractures, particularly those who present with osteoporosis. Not only a wide range of complications, e.g. bedsores, blood clots in the legs or lungs, infections and sepsis, but hip fractures also substantially increase the risk of death in the elderly. With our expertise in excellent care of hip fractures in geriatrics conducted since 2013, Bangkok Hospital Headquarters have provided comprehensive treatments to more than 500 elderly patients suffering from fractures.
Adhering to the international standard of care, a multidisciplinary approach for hip fracture treatments, consisting of orthopedic surgeons, trauma specialists, geriatricians, rehabilitation specialists, physiotherapists, nurses, dieticians, pharmacists and other personnel has been fully deployed to reach the best possible treatment outcomes. Our medical evacuation team and emergency care conducted by emergency specialists is ready around-the-clock, allowing timely and effective surgery using minimally invasive technique. The patients can rest assured that their quick recovery with shorter hospital stay and improved quality of life can be attained under close supervision of a multidisciplinary team highly specialized in geriatric fractures to bring back joy of Silver Age.
