Prostate Cancer is among the top cancers found in Thai men. Warning signs of potential prostate cancer include frequent urination, weak urine stream, and other abnormal symptoms such as blood in the urine or pain during urination. If you experience any of these symptoms, consult with a doctor to consider starting a health check or preliminary screening.
However, prostate cancer is considered a silent threat that some men may not be aware of, as some may show no symptoms or have no clear initial indicators. By the time it is detected, the cancer might be advanced or spread to other vital organs of the body.
Who should get tested…
Men aged 50 and above, or those who exhibit the aforementioned risk symptoms, should start consulting with a doctor to consider health checks or preliminary screening. This helps in deciding which type of screening is most suitable for them.
Additionally, another significant risk factor is if you are of African American descent, or if your father or brother had prostate cancer before the age of 65. You should start consulting with a doctor for tests starting at age 45.
Be certain… by undergoing health checks
If you decide to undergo preliminary screening, you should have a blood test to check PSA (Prostatic Specific Antigen) levels, along with a Rectal Exam. The frequency of the tests will depend on the PSA levels measured for each individual.
