The committee from the Royal College of Surgeons conducted a close inspection of the work at the Center of Excellence for Trauma and Emergency to ensure that its operations meet the standards of a trauma care center in Thailand. This is to develop a system for caring for accident victims according to the Plan for the Development of Public Health Service Systems included in the 11th National Economic and Social Development Plan (from 2017 onwards)

The committee commended several key aspects, including:

    1. The senior management’s dedication to developing the trauma center and planning to address system weaknesses, such as inadequacies in the number of trauma patients during certain times, to maintain the overall efficiency of trauma patient care systems.
    2. Regular quality review processes, including mortality reviews, complex patient reviews, and monitoring process and outcome indicators.
    3. A concrete personnel quality improvement plan for trauma care, with clear processes for development.
    4. The structure, equipment, and area divisions are appropriate for trauma care.
    5. Standardized trauma care guidelines with consistent and continuous enforcement.
    6. The blood supply support and laboratory testing system are well prepared to accommodate trauma patients, with clear external quality control systems.
