    Bangkok Cancer Hospital, Wattanosoth has organized the signing ceremony of its Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation with the National Cancer Center Japan. Operating under Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Public Company Limited (BDMS), the hospital has embraced the MoU with aim to upgrade cancer researches and cancer care at not just national but also Asia-Pacific levels. 

    Dr. Poramaporn Prasarttong-Osoth President & CEO Group1, Bangkok Dusit Medical Services (BDMS), says BDMS whose leading private-hospital network comprehensively covers Thailand and beyond is extremely pleased and honored that Bangkok Cancer Hospital, Wattanosoth – a specialized cancer-care facility under its wings – has inked the MoU with the National Cancer Center Japan. The MoU underlines that the Japanese institute has accorded importance to the planned cooperation and has agreed to provide academic support. The collaboration between the two institutes promises to enhance cancer care and pave way for the hospital to become a leading medical service provider for cancer patients at Asia – Pacific level. 

    Visiting Professor Dr. Thiravud Khuhaprema Hospital Director of Bangkok Cancer Hospital, Wattanosoth says his hospital specializes in the care of cancer patients. Operating as the BDMS’s Cancer Center of Excellence, it aspires to become the leading cancer-care provider not just at national but also Asia-Pacific levels. The MoU will foster academic cooperation, the exchanges of medical knowledge / experience, and interagency research support, paving way for enhanced cancer care and responding well to cancer situation. Every year, cancer incidence rate has been rising. Cancer-care cooperation between the Thai and foreign institutes will cover medical seminars and educational trips for medical / multidisciplinary teams. Under the MoU, both parties will also jointly support the Asian Clinical Trials Network for Cancers project (ATLAS project), an international genomic medicine research project. 

    Dr. Hitoshi Nakagama President of National Cancer Center, Japan, reveals that his institute ranks among the world’s Top 10 and ranks first on Japanese soil in terms of cancer care. It is therefore keen to support researches conducted in collaboration with other countries especially Thailand, which now hosts a big number of Japanese citizens. Under the MoU, cooperation will enhance cancer-treatment guidelines for greater efficiency and safety, and facilitate cancer-care planning for patients’ maximum benefits. 

    H.E. Mr. Nashida Kazuya Ambassador of Japan to Thailand, is the honorable witness at the MoU signing ceremony showing support for both Bangkok Cancer Hospital, Wattanosoth and the National Cancer Center Japan. Both institutes are committed to advancing cancer treatments, establishing themselves as leading medical service providers for cancer patients at Asia – Pacific level, and upgrading their academic works / researches in line with international standards through cooperation on the care of Thai / foreign cancer patients as well as joint academic activities.
