Cadaveric Course on Minimally Invasive Screws Cement Augmentation in Pedicle Technique (MIS CAPT) Training
Bangkok Hospital International organized the Minimally Invasive Screws Cement Augmentation in Pedicle Technique Cadaveric Course at the Orthopedic Advanced Skills Training Center, Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University, for interested doctors in the BDMS network as well as doctors from public hospitals, totaling 12 participants led by Dr. Sutthi Bawornrattanavej, the Chief Executive Officer of BDMS Trauma and Orthopedic Center, and Chief Faculty at the Orthopedic Excellence Institute, and Dr. Tayaot Bunnag, a spine surgeon and pioneer in the MIS CAPT technique, along with a team of skilled doctors to impart knowledge, understanding, techniques, and hands-on practice with the correct method to address the problem of osteoporotic vertebral fractures and also to reduce complications after spinal surgery in the elderly.
MIS CAPT is a technique for inserting spinal screws with cement augmentation through a small incision, merging the standard pedicle screw insertion via the skin with injecting bone cement using a dual-layer needle with a side opening, resulting in smaller incisions, reduced blood loss, decreased risk of complications, and the cement enhances the screw’s grip on the bone, effectively preventing the screws from loosening.
