With the belief that green buildings contribute to the enhancement of people’s health sustainability and environmental quality, “Bangkok International Hospital or BIH” has participated in promoting a sustainable society and is committed to reducing the environmental impact of development, leading to the acquisition of LEED 2009 for Healthcare (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design) certification. The standards for this internationally recognized environmental-friendly building assessment were developed by the U.S Green Building Council (USGBC), focusing on evaluating the sustainability and efficiency of hospitals, in terms of both patient health and environmental quality. The criteria include reducing the impact of the Heat Island Effect, proximity to nature, efficient water use, maximizing energy savings, using renewable energy in buildings, and the ability to receive natural light and views, etc.
On this occasion, Ratthapong Ampanwong, Managing Director of Bangkok International Hospital, and Atthit Limphisal, Senior Assistant Director of Property Development, Bangkok Dusit Medical Services Public Company Limited, received the certificate from Mr. Ravula Rohith Reddy, Associate Director – Marketing Development, Green Business Certification Institute Private limited. This reflects the hospital’s commitment to incorporating the concept of energy conservation and environmental preservation in every process of building design and construction, which helps protect the environment for the future.
