Bangkok Revalidatie Centrum
General Information
Many diseases and syndromes leave physical disabilities and communication
impairments that need to be treated because of the impact they have on normal
life. The Bangkok Rehabilitation Center has more than 60 highly skilled
rehabilitative personnel, including medical doctors, physical therapists,
occupational therapists and speech therapists, providing patient focused
programs using the latest techniques and modern equipment. This ensures that our
rehabilitation programs are as effective as possible for both in- and
out-patients, ranging from children to the elderly. Services include stroke and
neurological rehabilitation, musculoskeletal and joint rehabilitation, neck and
back rehabilitation, chest rehabilitation, and cardiac rehabilitation. Child
development problems, sports injuries and a host of other problems are also
treated by the Center.
The Bangkok Rehabilitation Center provides a variety of services, with some of
its programs internationally recognized for their high quality. One such service
is our aquatic therapy program, which utilizes an adjustable pool base to
regulate the depth of water according to a patient’s height. Water temperature
is constantly maintained at normal body temperature and a massage effect is
created by a jet stream generator. With one-to-one service, each patient is
individually cared for by their physical therapist, ensuring safety and
effective quality control.
The unit also offers signal rehabilitation services for those who have problems
with coronary arteries, heart valves, and defects of the heart itself. Before
and after surgery, rehabilitation is managed to prevent complications. The Center continuously monitors vital signs during and after exercise periods using
unobtrusive wireless equipment.
The Center is also well known for its treatment of respiratory problems.
Drainage of secretion is non-invasively accomplished with postural positioning,
percussion on the chest wall, and both manual and mechanical vibration designed
to create an “artificial cough.” A respiratory muscle strengthening program is
also available to enable patients to clear their lungs. This improves
ventilation and lowers risk of lung infection.
The comprehensive rehabilitation programs available at Bangkok Hospital Medical
Center are not only provided at our hospital, but can also take place in the
patient’s home. A group of rehabilitation specialists can visit the patient to
create an in-house program based on the size of their home and available
exercise equipment.
