Bangkok Endoscopy Centrum
A full range of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures using video
system is available. Both in-patient and out-patient services are available
for patients. An endoscope is a small, flexible tube with a light and a lens
on the end used to look into various part of the body. It can also be used
to take tissue from the body for testing or to take color photographs of the
inside of the body.
Today, interventional endoscopy provides a safe, effective alternative to
more invasive diagnostic techniques and/or surgery for several types of
conditions. Recovery is quicker, complications are few, and patients often
go home the same day of the procedure.
Not all hospitals provide a full spectrum of interventional endoscopic
services. This is a highly specialized field, requiring focused expertise
and advanced equipment.
At Bangkok Hospital, our endoscopists are leaders in the field, to use new
techniques and equipment to care for patients with both routine and complex
disorders. Our physicians perform a variety of endoscopic procedures, and
have many years of experience.
Endoscopy is a medical procedure during which a physician examines the
interior of a hollow vessel or organ using a special camera-like device
called an endoscope. Bangkok Hospital has a dedicated endocopy suite equipt
to perform a variety of procedures. Board-certified physicians at the
Endoscopy Center have many years of combined experience and are proficient
in a range of endoscopy procedures.
Diagnostic Endoscopy
In a diagnostic endoscopy procedure, physicians use sophisticated
endoscopes--thin, flexible tubes equipped with a tiny camera and light--to
visualize the inside of the body. The endoscope is inserted through specific
part of examination. These procedures are done to detect and evaluate
abnormal areas. In some cases, physicians will insert a small device to
collect a tissue sample for testing or remove abnormal tissues.
Interventional Endoscopy
During an endoscopy procedure, it's also possible to treat a wide variety of
disorders--from bleeding to cancer. Specialized endoscopes and miniaturized
instruments allow the physician to diagnose and treat cancers, stop
life-threatening bleeding, and perform other procedures. These types of
specialized treatments are considered advanced interventional endoscopic
procedures.
