STATE-OF-THE-ART
TECHNOLOGY
The
is comprised of ten departments : the Heart Clinic, Non-Invasive
Investigation Laboratory, the Cardiac Rehabilitation Clinic, Cardiac
Catheterization Lab, Cardiac CT (Multi-Slice CT Scanner), Cardiovascular
MRI (CMR), the Cardiac Care Unit, the Cardiac Ward, the Operating
Theaters and CCU Ambulance (Mobile CCU). All are well equipped with
state-of-the-art technology.
Quality improvement is constantly implemented and
high international standards are consistently maintained. Facilities and
medical technology are continually upgraded.

The
benefits of minimally invasive surgery have led to a new era in surgical
technology. The da Vinci Surgical System places rebotic technology
between the surgeon and the patient in performing minimally invasive
surgeries. Translating the surgeon's natural hand movements into the
corresponding micro-movements of the instruments positioned inside the
patient, decreases post operative pain and ensures faster recovery,
allowing the patient to quickly return to his/her normal activities.

Intravascular
Ultrasound (IVUS) is a valuable tool used to determine intravascular
morphology of blood vessels of the coronary and peripheral vasculature.
It provides a cross-sectional image of such vessels and is used as an
adjunct to conventional angioplasty, providing an image of the vessel
lumen and wall structures. The information from the echoes is used to
generate real-time images of the vessels, provide tissue/plaque
characterization of the constituents of the obstructing plaque. e.g'
calcium, fibrous, fibro-fatty and necrotic tissue

Clinical
applications of cardiovascular MRI include the assessment of myocardial
function, diagnosis of valvular and pericardial disease, myocardial
viability, myocardial perfusion, myocardial ischemia during stress
testing, congenital heart disease, atherosclerosis and plaque
composition, and MR angiography of the aorta, peripheral artery and the
coronary artery.

The
64-slice multidetector computed tomography (64-slice MDCT) is by far the
fastest, most accurate and advanced system, and is currently integrated
into everyday practice at Bangkok Heart Hospital.

The
Bangkok Heart Hospital is now treating the patients with heart failure
using angiogenic cell precursors (adult stem cell) producing from their
own peripheral blood. The delivery process involves a small incision at
the left side of the chest wall. The thoracoscopic instrument assistes
with the procedure. Basically, the cells will be injected directly into
the damaged heart muscle or poor contractility areas of the left
ventricle where heart muscle viability is previously evaluated by the
magnetic resonance imaging.

The
Bangkok Heart Hospital provides 24-hour regular and special CCU
ambulance services. Each ambulance, "Mobile CCU", is equipped with
monitoring devices and resuscitation equipment, A dedicated medical
team, comprised of critical care specialists to care for the patients
with severe heart disease, The hospital's Mobile CCU can quickly reach
patients and start treatment, which potentially saves many lives.

By combining these innovations with the
specialty of our physicians, Bangkok Heart Hospital has become one of
the most advanced centers in cardiovascular care.
