Our general ophthalmologists will screen you before referring you to a specialist, or you can ask to see a specialist directly.
The treatment available at the Bangkok Hospital Eye Center is comprehensive and covers all major areas of eye care. In addition to simple examinations for eye glasses, all of our ophthalmologists are qualified to treat numerous types of eye disease, including, phacoemulsification, a process by which cataracts are broken up by sound waves. All of our ophthalmologists are also capable of implanting artificial lenses following removal of a cataract or to improve the eye’s refractive power.
Subspecialty clinics in the Bangkok Eye Center are responsible for handling specialized areas of eye care. These clinics include the following:
- The Cornea Clinic handles corneal diseases, refractive errors, glasses
and contact use, and laser refractive surgeries (LASIK).
- The Children’s Eye Clinic handles eye problems affecting children,
including refractive error, drooping eyelids (ptosis), and obstruction of
lacrimal passages. A variety of ocular muscle abnormalities common with
children are also treated, including squints and ‘lazy’ eyes.
- The Glaucoma Clinic diagnoses, analyzes and treats glaucoma and related
problems.
- The Vitreoretina Clinic treats a variety of problems that can affect the
vitreous and retina of the eye. These include laser treatment for retina and
vitreous hemorrhage, diabetic retinopathy treatment and simple and
complicated retinal detachments. We also remove foreign bodies from the
interior of the eye using vitreous forceps and magnetic vitreous forceps.
- The Oculoplastic's Clinic specializes in the treatment of eyelid
disorders, like droopy and baggy eyelids; tear drainage system dysfunctions;
and problems with the orbit, including fractures and reconstructive surgery.
- Mobile Eye Clinic: in cooperation with the People’s Eye Care Foundation
(P.E.C.F.) and ophthalmologists up-country, we provide cataract surgery and
visual care using kind donations from the P.E.C.F. for rural patients with
limited medical finances.
